A Fun Author Event!

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here! January has been a busier month than I expected - especially since I am not teaching yet (my semester does not begin until the last week of January).

On January 10th, one of the local Barnes and Noble locations hosted an author’s panel - hosted by Jen Calonita, the author of 12 to 22, The Taylors, and Isle of Ever (among others!). Isle of Ever is the BN Pick of the Month for middle grade readers. I took my daughters to the event and they were able to hear from four other authors other than Jen and learn about their books and hear about how they write books.

One of the benefits to this event was that both of my daughters learned about books that were new to them and that they were now interested in reading. The author, Alyson Gerber, was very funny and relatable - which was a reason that my older daughter was excited to try out her book.

It took some effort (Saturdays in my house are busy with dance classes), but it was worth the effort to get my kids excited about new authors!
